GreenTools for Google Apps (G4G) v15.20 now supports the option to work with shortcuts, mainly retrieving their ID, or their target ID (the object they reference) when using the g4gdrv_getID() function. By default the target ID will be returned, but if you want to retrieve the ID of the actual shortcut, that is also possible by setting the "shortcut_id_type" value to "shortcut". This value defaults to "target" if not set.
Google rolled out their shortcuts "feature" a while back. For some it seems to be ok, for others it seems to be a headache and caused issues and is heavily criticized and some claim it ruined Shared Drives. But, we're hoping that adding the ability to work with shortcuts will make it a little easier should you run across shortcuts in your Google Drive.
The main issue it may cause with G4G is if you're used to specifying a fully qualified path to perform a function, if the path contains any shortcuts the option will fail. Instead, you will need to retrieve the ID of the shortcut manually in a program using the g4gdrv_getID() function.
In the sample source physical file QRPGLESRC in the G4G library contains new an updated source code to show how to perform a variety of options using shortcuts, shared drives, etc.
The G4G documentation has also been updated.
